Sleeping: How many hours is adequate?

When I was in my school year, I can sleep like a pole bear during holiday. I'll took as much time to sleep during those days. I can't imagine waking up early in the morning abd do the routines like my mom. I know that sometimes I want to wake up early but it was so tough for me, my eyes were heavy. I know how I missed many things if I woke up late but it was fine. I'll take 10 - 12 hours for sleep. If don't have enough time to sleep today, I'll get the revenge tomorrow. But soon when I got to go to work til now that I have a daughter, I used to wake up early. I have less time for sleep about 5 - 7 hours a day. This because I have routines to do. When I got my daughter at her grand, I'll sleep as much as I could. My husband used to take 6 hours or less since he was in his school years. He doesn't feel sleepy until lately that he got more things to do with his job. I learn that as people grow older the less time is needed for sleeping. But still, I can sleep longer when I have nothing to do. Also I learn that people can die fast and be thinner if they don't sleep enough than those that doesn't eat enough. I thought maybe my husband can never grow bigger (he's so thin) because he took less time to sleep. So I tried to have less time to sleep but the fact I got flu easier when I do that.
