Dragons Myths and Reality

Have you ever wondered how come many ancient cultures share the beliefe in Dragons, an animal that looks fairly the same with all these cultures. Yet these people couldnt have had talked with each other long ago and influenced their thinking? From South America to Europe, From Ocenia to Asia cultures so far apart yet shared the same vision of a fire breathing Serpent. Would it be possible to say that Dragons may have indeed existed and maybe they are Dinosaurs that have survived at time of the middle ages. If they are real indeed where are they now? Could they still be alive if ever they are true. This has been a hobby of mine for years learning about the cultures that had Dragon myths in them. Some saw them as a Manace even Demons, some saw them as the helpers of divine providence please give your opinion:)
