Returning your food at a restaurant...

I saw a show last night about chefs doing some really disgusting things (even throwing up in a pot of chili) to people's food. I was wondering if any of you have had any bad experiences like this. Have you ever not returned your food when it wasn't how you wanted it just because you were afraid of what they would do to it?

It is a very good idea to only eat at establishments where you are well known and well liked these days, I'm sorry to say... people have become so damn mean and uncaring about each other, that they certainly are capable of those things and more... you certainly have to "watch your back" and that will detract from what should be a fun and happy experience for you and yours. I'm a guy who used to review restaurants for a living and I still do the Zagat reviews every now and then... I once did 75 restaurants in one month, so I know a little bit about 'em! The business has changed along with the very nature of society, and not all for the better, either. But enough of that, I'm a fun person who loves to eat out and I just am a little more mindful of where I go. Casinos/Hotel restuarants not only excell in quality and value, but in safety as well, i meen the places are literally crawlin' with cops and inspectors of every kind 24 hours a day! I'm not going to say you can't get a bad meal in one but it's not very likely... also family style eateries are pretty good and safe, too. I'm a foodie and a gourmet cook, who enters cooking contests and sometimes, I win! I'm not about to let a handful of "bad actors" scare me away from what I love... and you shouldn't either! :) May Joy, Abundance and Peace be with you and yours! :)

I am definately afraid to return food in some restaurants!!! You never know what someone might do. Now if it was definately not my fault then I would say something. But I would never change my mind or complain about something being overdone. Underdone- yes because I can't eat undercooked food right now. When i worked in a restaurant the only bad thing I ever saw was a customer that we didn't like came in (I wasn't working at the time but I was eating there) and the cooks played floor hockey with his steak before they cooked it. They told me about it after they did it and he ate it. Lucky for that guy it was really late at night and the floors were relatively clean. But still...very gross!! I never want to go out with my MIL because she changes her mind all the time, will send back food if it is even slightly over or underdone, will change her mind about how she wanted it cooked when it is already done, complains about every item that she is served...she is the most awful customer that a server could have. It was even worse when she was with her boyfriend- when they were together they could probably easily reduce a good server to tears. He would let his coffee sit for 10 minutes without touching it then suddenly chug it and start complaining if our server wasn't running out to refill it immediately! Even if she had other customers to wait on and wasn't out on the floor when he was done! The two of them should be forever banned from any restaurant where someone serves you. Send them to buffets...I really don't like going out to eat with people like that because if we get a server that doesn't like it I am afraid of what they might do to my food!!! I cannot believe that someone would throw up in the chili!!! And so many people eat that- not just one person so they are treating all of their customers badly! I hope that guy lost his job and never gets another!!!
