People versa animals

What are the differences of the two creatures? Why do people act and control animals as they do? Animals are capable of love, reason, emotions, depression, feelings, joy, sadness, maternal and paternal love, and physical pain. Same as humans. So, I don't understand why we must conquer them to be lower than us. To use for circus and zoo fun for us. To hurt for furs, teeth, ivory, and so forth. What gives with humans? We are very mean to animals, not to mention eachother.

Maybe it goes back to the caveman thing. They had to kill animals to have food to survive (I think)and this behavior is still embedded in our genes. Humans have not learned to live without violence and anger. Some have, but for many, it is a way of existence. Who knows, the animals may be here long after man has been foolish enough to extinguish himself from the planet.

I share your opinion. Most of us underestimate animals and feel superiour to them. Because of our blindness and arrogance we might not live longer than animals.

I happen to like a line from the matrix. It goes something like. " I've come to the realization that humans are not animals. Animals will try to find a state of equilibrium with their surroundings but humans won't. They breed and spread until they've used up all the resourses available , then move on to another area. There is a creature on this planet that follows this pattern. A virus. Human beings are like a virus, a disease on this planet... Its not word for word but it gets my point. For some reason people think they have the right to abuse & waste everything around them including the animals and people. Our use it up and dispose of it society is corrupted. I personally have decided to at least try to be a benign virus.

Hi Sugar, Yes animals have feellings but some people unfortuately do not treat them like they have any it is terrible a lot of the time. Yes we can be very mean to each other as well, I do not know why people can be so hurtful and cruel to both people and animals.

Your post reminds me of an old story of the Seattle Chieftains reply to the President of the USA in 1860. The president wrote a letter to the Chief as the State is willing to buy their land. The Chief replied, The President of the United States wrote me a letter that they are willing to buy our lands. But we don't understand how one can purchase land, water, air since these are for all the living beings here. We think the blood in our veins and the water flows through the plants as same.... The speech is a lengthy one. These are not the exact words from his speech. You could have a search in the internet for Chief Seattle. Please... thank you Margieanne

no difference between creatres. this is only in the minds of the human beings. Natural animity is the part of timecycle and life cycle of the nature. animals also have feelings like human being. But so,called civilized people dont like to agree their feelings. They like to kill cruelly for their food. when one can kill and animal for their food. Then the animals also have to kill the human being?. so it is not correct thing.

I ahte these people who mistreat animals and children. As far as adults go I am too often ashamed of my fellow man but at least adults can, most of the time, defend themselves. Animals and children cannot.

Dog - a very happy, funny dog dancing around for his family!
I actually wrote a paper once on animal neglect, and while I was making my point I compared animals to people like you are. I said the only difference from animals and peopel are the obvious ones...but they have tons of hings in common. First I mentioned how we all have eyes, ears, teeth, etc. Then I said how we all have to eat and drink to survive. than I moved to saying how animals cry out when they are in pain, show emotions better than some people do, and how they love to love!
