Fresh from the rumor mill is that George Lucas has announced to Fox News that he will make not one, but two new live-action Star Wars movies! What's up with that?!Apparently, they will each be about an hour long and will be made for television. How do you feel about George's meddling of his very famous work? Do you think you have had enough of Star Wars?

I like the idea of a TV series spawned from the movie, maybe exploring minor or unseen characters rather than the main ones. Another movie or two would be nice, but how LucasFilm could possibly make that happen is beyond me. So many books and comic series have explored the before and after of the canon series of movies that there's little wiggle room for a whole new plot line without disrupting the "established" universe. Since Lucas signed off on all those books it would be kind of hard for him to turn around and say, "Well, that never happened."Being the cynic that I am, I presume he's just looking to make more money off of an already very profitable venture.(Hey, I own all the movies, plus the cartoon TV series, and most books, so I've definately done my part to line his wallet.) I can't gripe about that too much. The other half of me says maybe he really just enjoys what he's doing.

Wow. I can tell that you are really an ardent fan. You nailed it on the head saying that both before and after the original six movies have been explored by both books and comics. I read some of the books - the dark nest trilogy and it was pretty good. I'm not sure how Lucas is gonna make it more interesting - maybe the beginning of Yoda?

Definately an ardent fan of the Star Wars universe. A history of Yoda would be interesting indeed. I wouldn't mind seeing Zahn's trilogy done in cinematic style, but I think it would deserve more than simply two one-hour movie slots on TV. I would also be somewhat afraid to see who they picked for some of the main characters.
