Do you have a frugal idea for dishwasher detergent?

I use dishwasher detergent, Cascade or Electrasol. I have used the generic brand BUT I am wondering if any of you use something more frugal? I have tried baking soda and borax but it didn't seem to get my dishes as clean. I have put vinegar in the rinse container and it does make the glasses sparkle.

I don't, but I do use dishwasher powders to clean in other areas. It is excellent to use1 cup with 1 cup bleach in your washing machine to remove build-up. If you have mildew smell in your washer after not using it for a few days, this will stop it.
I also use the same amount in 2 gallons of water for whites that have lost their whiteness.
I have used it to remove soap scum, and grease build-up as well.
Happy cleaning!LOL

Hi Mamacathie, Yes I had a discussion quite awhile ago now that I put out in regards to dishwashing liquid but also what is good you can use an orange leaf or lemon leaf in the water in your sink and this will clean your dishes and take any grease off them and they come up looking brand new.
