Driver's Ed. (In the car...)

Just a few hours ago I finished my last (offical) sessions of the in-the-car part of Driver's Ed. I have two more classroom sessions, and after that I will probably try and take my permit for the third time. (The first time I was nervous, hence I failed. Second time they asked me a question with that had two answers that could be the right answer. Not to mention I completely forgot about hand signals. Gah. I did so well for the first half of the test! With the fact that I read the book everyday.) But even with that, I don't feel like I really learned anything from the in-car sessions. I spent the first day driving around the parking lot while my teacher told me stories of his past and current stories. Maybe it's just me, but I was trying to learn how to drive. It was nerve wracking just using the gas pedal. Besides, I wanted to learn how to drive. I got distracted easily because of it. Of course he, usually started yelling at me because I was "too close" to a patch of grass. (He'll tell a story, I'd get distracted, and drive into some grass. Fun, no?) Maybe it's just me, but he told me that he expected me to be somewhat experienced driver by the end of our fourth sessions. He thought it was weird when he took me out to drive on a populated road. Up until then I had only drove in developments/neighboorhoods and side roads. He yelled at me instead of giving me tips and telling me what I SHOULD of done. I was nervous, and that did not really help things. We had some extra time before the sessions would end, and he offered to help me on anything. So I asked him if we could do parallel parking, and he started yelling at me saying I could do during my 60 hours*. It didn't make sense at all. What's the point of offering help when you aren't just going to do it in the first place? * In Maryland you have yave 60 hours of driving as a require to get your driver's license. You can't do this until you get your permit.
