Carpet,Wood, Tile, Dirt and why? I prefer carpet because to me, that is more "homey" and creates a warm environment.

There is tile in our kitchen/dining and half of the master bathroom....the half where the toilet and tub is at. I guess that is to save the carpeting in the bathroom, but still allow comfy feet when you are standing at the sink. The kids bathroom and the half bathroom downstairs had linoleum. Not exactly my favorite, but with kids being rough on everything...I am not about to change it. The rest of the house is carpet. But the den is different carpeting than the rest of the house. Why? I haven't a clue because we bought the house like this. And the carpeting in the den is getting messed up at the edge where it meets the tile in the kitchen/dining area. Oh! I forgot! There is tiling at the front door entry way also. LOL And linoleum in the laundry room.

We have wood everything except for the kitchen and bathroom. I love wood floors, it looks so beautiful and it's easier to keep clean especially with a cat.

Right now in the apartment we are renting we have carpet everywhere but the kitchen and bathroom. They are ceramic tile. In the house we are renovating we are redoing all the original woods floors. I prefer wood. Easier to clean up spills and such.

"Fake" wood, the compressed plate stuff in most rooms.
