How do you get your baby to go to SLEEP?

My infant RARELY sleeps. He even still wakes up a few times a night. How do you get your baby to nap? Nothing seems to work. He is just so busy all the time, and doesn't want to rest, although he NEEDS it, his little eyes get red and he gets so cranky. What works for you?

Sing a made up lullaby according to the baby and your love daily, he will get use to it and I am sure he will go to sleep, something like this, Go to sleep my baby, mama's heart, and dada's heart, you are everything for us and May god bless you and take care of you" sing these words in a soothing and loving way, your baby will fall asleep. Just a suggestion if you feel good please reply.
I did this to my babies in Malay and they are now 25 years and below and suddenly when they cant sleep they tell me sing the lullaby and they feel good.

my baby?;) wow all the time wont to sleep early still speak a lot playing toys and ask me to play too, amazing huh;) usually i will put on the bed and sing a little song or teach a song, and tell a story maybe my baby never what story;) but its ok till my baby boy get tired and ask a milk and go to sleep....
