Please give me ur thoughts:In a completely natural material universe, all is made up of atoms..,in their various configuration.(bottom line). Now,a man in the desert pauses and ponders the billions of stars above him .he forms an opinion as to their purpose (or lack thereof). Now,what has just happened..? In a totally material material universe,u have one set of atoms (specifically in brain),having an opinion (a value judgment),about another set of atoms (the stars),Does this make common sense to u?Is it reasonable? What if anything, does this prove about u or me? I believe very strongly that it doe s prove something. If u think deeply enough about it,i am not going to say what until the question is over..Then i will put the answer in the detail section .What r ur thoughts on this .? this is a serious question..I am looking for serious answers..Atheist always says that they know how to think clearly..So lets see, some good and serious answers

Well, I disagree that the atoms in the brain have an opinion. It would be like asserting that the individual atoms in a pillow are soft and fluffy. I understand the mind to be a process that arises from a particular CONFIGURATION of atoms. A very simple analogy would be a waterfall. A waterfall isn't water or rocks or a sharp change in elevation between surfaces, but a phenomenon that arises when all three occur together. These kinds of processes happen in the natural world all the time, and we don't invoke the supernatural to explain them. Consider a sound, an ocean wave or an explosion: We label such phenomenon with nouns as though they're static objects, yet these labels are merely shortcuts for describing a series of happenings. I see a "thought" as just a highly complicated series of natural events. By the way, I certainly don't claim to know how to think clearly, especially at 2:00 am after a night out, but I will be interested to find out where you are going with this discussion.
