I found it kind of funny when i was still in high school and my cousin saying "you don't know who your real friends are until after you're out of high school." (he's 7 yrs older than me). I never realized till after i'd been out of high school a couple years that it's hard to maintain friendship beyond high school because people move away and/or change and such. So how many friends from high school do you actually stay in contact with?

i've stayed in contact with most of them through my friendster account but its not the same when we talk to each other anymore. its like "how's everything going?" and that's it. no more exchanging of ideas ar talking about silly things. its like a formality that you need to do just to keep in touch.

None. I hope we kept in touch, I felt then that those were the happiest moment of my life but i was wrong. How sad. I know most of their numbers, i see them on friendster, we send messages and forwarded emails every now and then but I don't consider them good friends anymore. I had many bad experiences during my high school days, i don't miss my high school years and i certainly don't miss the jerks i met there.

For me, there are about a handful of people that I still talk to from high school... 2 on a decent enough basis, one who we still hang out with because our wives are good friends. There are some who have since moved away and we just lost touch, so I understand how hard that is as well. There are a few who are still gone who I have contact with, just don't talk to them all that often.

Oh how true this is. I never realized who my real friends were until afterwards. Luckily I still talk to about 6 or 7 friends from high school still. Which isn't much but when you encounter so many other friends and other people and how much people can change I guess I would rather have these 7 true friends than have 15 somewhat ok friends.

We meet people who forget us but sometimes there are people who can't forget. As they say the high school life are seems more memorable than in college. After high school graduation mostly each of them has their own road to travel but I still have my 2 or 3 high school friend whom I often contact with.

I live in a small town where everybody knows everybody and we've all grown up together. There are alot of people that I went to highschool with that are still here. I didn't have much to do with them when I was in high school and I still don't.. LOL.. And alot of the crowd that I hung out with back then is still the same. I left town for a bit, had children and then came home. I find that I'm a different person than I was back then and most of the people aren't. I find it hard to relate to most of them. BUT.. my dearest friend in the world is one that I went to highschool with. We talk every day and have a wonderful relationship. I'd be lost without her.

Hi,brand4less! 2years, I just graduated from high school for 2years.So now I don't feel it is hard to keep in touch with my friends from high school. In my friends' circle,we usually send messages at weekend to each other or we chat online with QQ.Indeed, most of my friend from high school change a lot after they became university students. For me,myself have changed a lot.But that's reasonible,we just want to look a bit different from our past profiles. During these 2 years,we held 4-5 friends parts.Nearly most of my high school classmates attended to parts. So I believe at least, the friendship between my friends and I is good. But indeed,I encounter some problems from the friendship.Well,it's ok.I believe I can deal with it. Thanks for your own experience, that's worthy thinking a lot.

It's extremely hard to keep contact, we met sometimes a couple of times n the first few years after. And then ... I moved to other city and after other coutry. In my defense, I tried to contact some of them some time ago but couldn't find them any more. It's a pitty beccause we were very good friends playing football, going to rock concerts and hanging on record stores and mall. C'est la vie :)

That is so true! I've been out of high school for 12 years and I only keep in close contact with one friend. It really aggravates me when I see someone I went to school with out in public and they are so fake and act like we are the best of friends, but when we were in high school they acted like you didn't even exist. WTF is up with that? I'm just like 'HI, How are ya?' and I keep on moving!

I have to say I don't talk to anyone from school. Like you said they get married have kids and move away. When or if I see one everyonce in a while, I will say hello. But I normally don't see anyone. We do hang around a guy that was younger than me in school but that is about it. We weren't good friends in school we just knew of each other, but now we hang out. He dates a friend of mine, I made after school. Everyone always said to cherish the school years, and I was always ready to get out of school, but now I wish I was back in school.

My best friend and I have been friends since high school. 19 years we have kept in touch and been there for each other. She was there for the birth of my oldest daughter and I was there for the birth of her son. I missed the birth of her daughter by a few hours because I was working. Our relationship has survived her moving to Florida(moving back to MD), me moving to Georgia(moving back to MD) and now me moving to Indiana. Recently through myspace I was contacted by a couple of friends from high school as well, but my best friend is the only one I have really kept in contact with.

I had alot of "friends" throughout high school but I only keep in contact with 3 of them on a everyday basis. My father always told when i was in high school you could have all the friends in the world but when you get our of high school you will only remember enough to count on one hand. Which is so true but at the time I didnt believe him, but he was right. Whoever I lost contact with was obviously not a real friend because we would of made an effort to keep in contact.
