I've heard that in the city of Liverpool itself, most locals support Everton. Liverpools supporters are mainly from out of town. Is that true? If that's the case, then who buys the season tickets to Anfield and fills the stands? Everton and Liverpool have a bitter rivalry, evidenced in derbyside matches, so I don't suppose locals could support both at the same time?

I am just hearing this for the first time and if this story is true then its really amazing. From all observations, liverpool has a massive crowd that follow them any were they go even to away matches and they seem more porpular than everton too.

Its true mate, the majority of scousers within the city are Evertonians. Liverpool have a massive out of city and out of country following due to their success, something that we had in the 80's when we were a successful team. Its true that fans follow success no matter what way you look at it, its just unfortunate that its the red half of the city at the moment :( We are getting better though so hopefully we will regain our success in the near future.

I am sure that you are wrong, a relative of mine works at goodison bur is a Liverpool supporter. There are obvious Liverpool supporters who live in Glydws Street, I've seen them come out of their houses draped in red scarves on match days. Most people in liverpool city are LIVERPOOL SUPPORTERS.

having been over there recently for a game, i'd say it depends on what part of the city your in. but i think most are pool fans. i have heard that in manchester the vast majority are city fans. and there thousands of fans have jumped on the band wagon over the past 10 - 12 yrs sence they started winning. with liverpool its one a fan always a fan. its in the breeding.

yeah, i've heard abt man city fans as such too. i knew one myself. he was from manchester. but another friend who was born in manchester supports united. perhaps they were born in different generations, that's why. no one in london really supports chelsea. they're more of a foreign team than a london team in any case. and they have a rather annoying manager to boot! for sympathetic reasons my fav manager was the old birmingham manager. not sure whether he's still there. can't recall his name. watched an interview with him and he seemed really sincere with a real love for footie and his club. would be great if he was the one who has brought birmingham back into the premier league. he looks like a teddy bear too haha.

Of course there are fans outside the City of Liverpool, but the fans we see in Anfield are mostly from the City of Liverpool. I do not believe the locals will support both sides at the same time unless it's for the country. During the Man Utd v Barcelona Champions League Final, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Chelsea fans wanted their rivals to lose. The mid table fans were more neutral and/or supported the club from their country.
