My sisters have been encouraging me to try for a call center as call center agent, they say i will really qualify if i just undergo training and apply. Being in a call center means having a huge salary a cut above what i am receiving as a clerk at an unknown computer store in our city. But it does not really appeal much to me and i have two small kids and to have shifting schedule will be very difficult for me. For those who work in a call center here in the Philippines can you please tell me...the pros and cons of working in a call center?

Hi andak2007, I used to be a manager in call center. There are two kind of call centers. One receives calls ( customer service ) and the other makes calls ( collections, sales, etc.). In both cases I can tell you that it's a very stressing job, usualy have to meet tight objectives hard to achieve, when special task forces achieve the objective you'll probably be unemployed specially if the call center has a contract for outsourcing. I can write too many things on call centers, don't want to bore you. It's a nice place to work for temporary jobs, don't expect to be a manager or supervisor in the short time you have little odds. You can take it a part time while studying or as second income. Best regards. luis.

i know i won't be able to handle stress and pressure at the same time while im still taking care of my kids since they are still very small. That is why i am having second thoughts about applying and resigning from my current job. Thanks for the information luis. God bless.

My cousin works for a call center company and he share his experience. The Pros of working with a call center is to promote good English grammar and speech. The pay is also good as most of these call centers are outsourcing companies. The Cons of working as a call center agents is the very strict time management, the psychological impact it gives you because of dealing with foreign clients.

I dont know if this can help u but when i was working in a call center these are the positives and negatives for me. positives: -u get to meet friends and bond with them during trainings. -u are being paid in full while on training. -your monthly PAY/SALARY always on a 5digit range. -lots of free benefits u can take advantage of (health, housing, dental insurances, etc.) -buy the things u dream of, u u save half of your salary. -starbucks before going to work. -u wont have to deal with traffic going to work. negatives: -irate callers. -eyebags. -cant get enough sleep. -metrics. -malling.

since you have a job already and you are satisfied with the current situation that you are in there, it is best that you stick to it. if you are dissatisfied with your current job, then you can consider working for a call center or in medical transcription office. the pay is good but, they say that you must have a good amount of self discipline. since coffee is being made available to the workers 24 hours, there is a chance to take too much of it. we know that coffee is good only if we take one to a maximum of two cups in a day.

I used to work in a call center before I got fired!!! OK let me tell you about the pros first, you can earn a lot of money by working in a call center. Eventhough your basic salary is low, you can earn my working overtime. The pay rate is higher and you will also get allowance is you work night shift. Moreover, you will also get incentive if you achieve a certain target, for example how many calls you get per month and etc. The cons, what i dislike working in a call center is the customers! Most of them are rude and swear at you for no apparent reason. Eventhough you are nice to them, they can still scold you and complain about you.
