Lipstick Shades

When I was applying my lipstick for an event yesterday, I realized that I've been using that same color for years. I always get complimented on it and instead of trying new colors, it's just easier for me to keep buying the same one. My co-worker was surprised to hear this because she buys a new color everytime she goes out to get lipstick. So, are you the kind of person who likes to find shades that work and then just stick with them? Or are you always out trying new trends and shades?

I have shade families I like. So I usually work within those. I find that I often outgrow colors...or worse, they get discontinued! One that I condiser a standby is Mac lipglass in "Lust". It's a dusky pink that can be worn to work and out. I also like the consistance of lipglass, it's really tacky and shiny, so it keeps your lips moist. I often have the trouble of liking a shade but not the way the lipstick feels on my lips. I have a color from the Body Shop that is like this. It's a lovely bronzey red, but it's sooo drying that I don't wear it that often. I guess my answer is that I change colors within a certain pallette, but I still haven't found "my shade" or brand yet.

My usual lipsticks are MAC brand as well. The one that I use at work and for basic day use is called Twig. It's a nice pinky brown that goes with everything. My nightime or more dramatic lipstick shade is called Dubennet (which is also from MAC) and that one is a deep red. Think 1940s pin-up girl red. I get compliments on that one all the time.

I say stick with what works! It's hard finding a good colour scheme that compliments you and works for you every time. I do like to experiment once awhile but always seem to go back to the same/similar shades. I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

Thank you! You have a good point, if the colors work really well, why not just stick with them? It's funny, I like them so much that I actually go out of my way to get them!

I never just have the one lipstick at any given time, i always have a really good choice, maybe 10-20. I like to wear all sorts of different coloured eyeshadows, depending on my clothing (i always seem to match the eyeshadow with the clothes rather than lipstick, as i find it easier to match lipstick to eyeshadow), thus i need lots of different lipsticks to go with them! I'm not a one-shade woman, theres definately not a single shade i'd pick out to say i wear the most. I guess i just like variety!
