I would rather have common sense than being extremely smart. For e.g. you can be extremly smart in mathematics and you need brains for that. But you maybe useless when it comes to everyday living, can't cook, can't organise their social life etc.

I have a friend whom is smart and carries a great sense of humor, but his common sense is not so great. He forgets simple things like where he was sitting, or how does he get home, or he'll forget the light switch a number of times and many times his zipper and also to tie his shoes. I am not saying he's stupid nor am I saying any smart person is, but my question is, do smart people have less common sense? Sorry if my initial question is not clear.

Too bad, I've been blessed with both...lol! Just kidding! I guess, I would prefer being extremely smart because having common sense is easy to achieve than being smart. Anybody could have common sense but not everybody is smart!

Well, i have common sense, what else ya got? Just kidding! I don't think being very smart would help in today's world, a person needs survival skills and a could attitude helps. Common sense, can't live without it! Take care Djdeep81.

Common sense is better. Being smart alone is not enough by itself. Also being too smart can make you miserable. Believe me , I know. :)

Personally I would much rather posess common sense than be extremely book smart. I think that every day life takes more common sense than book smarts. I know that my ex husband was extremely smart and was completely useless when I tried to teach him how to cook or clean. He just couldn't get the concept or how to do it or why. So, I think that common sense should take precedence over book smarts in some cases.
