Midway through the second period of Game 3 in the Western Conference Finals, Detroit held a 4-0 lead over Anaheim. On his way out of the Anaheim zone, Holmstrom was boarded by two Anaheim players. Chris Pronger got his elbows up and hit him from behind, while Rob Neidermeyer got his elbow up and hit him dead on in the face. Holmstrom's face was busted up a bit. Anaheim got 5 min and a game misconduct. They've been taking a lot of penalties. It seems as if they're out to hurt some of Detroit's key players tonight. Datsyuk has had his helmet knocked off a few times tonight already, which is not a frequent event considering he actually keeps the thing strapped on pretty tight. There's been a lot of boarding attempts in addition to above. Come on now Anaheim. Being outclassed, outshot, outscored, and simply second best to Detroit isn't reason enough to go out there and attempt to injure any of them. It makes you no better than Calgary. At least San Jose went out with class.

There seemed to be a white (Detroit) helmet on the ice too frequently last night. Both Neidermeyer and Pronger should have let up. It's what they are supposed to do when all they see are the player's number when they go to make a hit. Holmstrom is impressing me even more than he usually does. Coming back after that hit with your team up 4-0 really shows a love for playing the game and wanting to be in the action.

Anaheim has the rep of being a tough, physical team. They are not afraid to use their size. I don't think their play is as dirty as they want you to think it is. They can try to injure, bully, and rile up The wings all game long. The Red Wings are old and disciplined enough to make you pay.Remember The Wings can and will score on powerplays, theirs and Yours. So if The Ducks or anyone else wants to try some cheap shots. it's okay. They will be the ones in the sin Bin all night.
