I'm in total shock and disbelief. The best vocalist Idol has seen in a long time gets eliminated. The only reason I can come up with for this is, I believe the votes were split between Jordin and BLake, with people feeling that Melinda was a shoe in and just didn't bother to vote for her, which I still think happened last year with Chris Daughtry& Kathyrn Mcfee.(There was no way she should have beat him out.) but whatever the reason, this came as a complete surprise to me, and not a good one.

Melinda being voted off shocked me! I thought she would win! I read this morning that the reason could be because she is not as young and fresh as Blake and Jordin. Unfortunately, Idol has become more of a popularity contest than a singing contest. As I stated in another post, I think viewers should not be able to vote more than once. If that rule was implemented, the results would be different!

You are absolutely correct. The only reason Idol has become a popularity contest, is because of the voting system. The younger voters, who make for a large percentage of the votes, are obviously voting over and over for their favorites, who obviously are not the best singers. And this year proves that fact. But, go figure, last year Taylor Hicks won and he certainly isn't young looking or fresh. I agree, make it one vote per person , than we may have a fair contest.

This wasn't right. If I watch it next week I am not even going to vote, I don't care anymore.

You said it. Good luck to either Jordin or Blake, but neither of them will get my vote, it's just not worth it.

OMG! I haven't seen it yet, but I voted for Melinda--Twice! I was certain she was going to win. Well, with no disrespect to the other two candidates, I probably won't be watching next week.

You can add me to the not watching list. Idol 6 wasn't the best year to begin with, now it's not even worth it for me to watch.

i was so shocked! i almost cried... i was so sure last night to see melinda in the finals. oh man, i have a feeling that Blake's going to be beatboxing all the way to the finish line. But this is not the end of Melinda, she's just getting started. we'll hear many great things from her, im more than sure of that.

I am totally shocked by this. I think Simon was as well. I really thought it would have been Blake going home. Melinda and Jordin are way better than he is. I am starting to think the show is "fixed". This is the first Idol I have watched from start to finish. I am addicted to it this year. Last season I watched it when I could.

I think that was part of it, that people didn't think she would need their votes, but I also wonder if it has something to do with the fact that she doesn't have a contemporary sound? I agree that she's the best of the season, but Blake and Jordin may appeal to a younger crowd. So, then you have to look at not only what ages are viewing the show, but what ages are doing the bulk of the voting. Blake being the only guy left and sounding pretty good himself is going to get a significant part of the vote, especially from young women. So, then you have the remaining votes split between Jordin and Melinda. Melinda is better, but Jordin no doubt appeals to the younger crowd. I guess I expected Melinda to win, but at the same time, looking back, not surprised that she didn't. Here's my prediction though... Melinda will be the most successful of these three. I think all will have careers, but Melinda is spectacular and will be huge!

I had missed this episode but was very shocked to hear that Melinda got the boot. This woman certainly could sing but I'm wondering if she got kicked off because she was more predictable than the others remaining. This is the only logical reason I can think of..

I was kinda glad that melinda got voted off. I mean, she does have a really great voice, but that's all their is to her. There are lots of people out there that have really good voices, it's not always about just that. Blake is a great performer and he has more than one thing to offer the table. He can sing, dance, and beat box. He's entertaining. Does melinda have a great voice, yes. But she's a bit on the boring side.

I have to agree with you I was also shocked about this. I have a feeling that Blake is going to be the next Idol because he really attracts the younger crowd and I think that they are the ones who do most of the voting. Like someone else said here the doors are just opening for melinda and who ever else gets voted off next week. I think all three of them are very talented people and will go far in life.

I wasn't shocked. Melinda is very talented, but Blake and Jordin appeal to all the really young fans, while Melinda is more adult contemporary. Nevertheless, I predict that Melinda will be a big star. She could be in movies and on Broadway with her voice, while Blake and Jordin will be great pop stars.

I, too, am totally shocked. She was the best vocalist of this season. I think, though, that this will work out better for her. She will not be locked into the Idol contract and she will be able to record what and with who she wants. She is amazing and there is no doubt that the record companies will be lining up to sign her on.
