I was in the Bank this morning and there was a couple at the teller next to me talking about their engagement rings... The teller had a very large Diamond 1.1ct she said she wasn't very fussed by the size but the other Lady with her partner was reall over the top about it and talking about getting a new one bigger and better than what she currently has. I was a little surprised about their discussion, but tried not to be nosey... To me size doesn't matter to be perfectly honest a diamond doesn't matter it is what the Ring entitles that is the main thing..... Do you feel the same way or do you Love a Big Diamond?

To me the size of a diamond is not important but how it is cut and presented. I have seen some big diamonds in rings and they have no appeal but just the size. Recently a couple were out on a boat and he was going to propose to her and the boat caught on fire and the ring went to the bottom of the ocean, I cannot remember the exact cost of the ring but it was a very high price. My mouth dropped when I heard the price and thought of all the things I could have done with that money! lol

Now that could be it, a sign from up above telling him it was not a good choice. I guess some feel that the cost is more important than what the ring actually looks like, or maybe that the higher the price the more that person loves you! Reality is that it is the meaning behind it and not the cost!

Yeah I saw that on the News.. Took that as a sign he shouldn't be getting married... It shouldn't be the cost of the Ring that matters.... You are right about the cut and presentation, it shouldn't have to be the biggest and cost you a arm and a leg... There are many things out there that you may be better of with... Love should be free and unconditional, not brought with a diamond........

To me, the size of the diamond doesnt matters... The size of his heart, his tolerance to me matters more then anything else... =)

diamond ring - diamond heart ring
size should be not a matter at all, if its become a matter then the person only love their partner for their money and not sincere at all.that kind of love will not last long

I dont have a big diamond and thats what I perfer. I have real small hands and I dont like some big diamond on my hand. That is really not important at to me. I do agree with you.

Thank you for your response, some just seem over the top I don't see how they could do daily chores with it on...... With something that large and expensive you wouldn't want to risk losing it either.....

For a ring? Size totally doesn't matter at all. The simplicity and thought of it counts. I would really prefer a smaller diamond coz I don't like it to be noticeable when I wear it. ;)

I agree the simplicity and thought counts more than size. It can attract alot of attention.

OK, I wont deny that a big diamond would be wonderful...(I do love jewelry). I do agree with your point though, that the diamond and even the wedding is not what's going to make or break the marriage...its the couple involved, and their commitment to one another and the marriage. No diamond in the world would have kept me married to either of my ex-husbands. Great topic!!

I'm happy with any diamond but if I am to be completly honest, I wish mine was a little bigger. I am not a materilistic kind of person. I do like diamonds though. I wish my husband would upgrade mine to a bigger one. Just maybe 1 size up and I would be happy. I have almost 1 ct but it still looks small.

oh size TOTALLY matters! to me it represents a commitment on his part to front that money and it takes some preparing...any guy can buy a cheapo and propose on a whim, but it takes planning and saving to get a nice ring...to me it's symbolic
