My house lived without tv for about three months i have a 15 year old and a 12 year old and a 10 year old and myself. I didnt really think that it bother me to much at the time but we got a satellite installed a couple of days ago and i have not heard to much out of the kids lol. And in actual fact i really missed it too i cant seem to get enough of it either now that it is back. Do you think you could do without tv? I found really living without tv was kinda like living without power it was really different to say the least. It wasnt really like me or the children watched alot but the choice shows we did like we missed greatly. What would you do if you didnt have tv? I know myself i substituted tv with my puter. Is it possible to become addicted to tv?

Could I live without it yes (except for the races) but my kids and hubby no. They are not glued to it all the time but they wouldn't like it if they didn't have it at all. There are many days when everyone is gone that I don't even turn on the t.v. at all

Oh I'd go absolutely bonkers without TV. Even though I don't watch it a lot I'd miss it deeply. I sit on the puter for hours on end with the TV turned on and the office door opened. I may not know what's on but if someone turns it off I'll get up turn it back on and say don't turn that off. Hahahahaha! My dad watches or rather stares at the TV all day long. I have Direct TV sattelite so I pay about $70 a month. So I want ti on all the time. Hahahaha. get my moneys worth? I sometimes have my police scanner on instead of the TV listening to the local police runs and ambulance, fire runs. But not too often. The radio doesnt interest me as I use Radio AOL when online often. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I personally don't like tv very much at all but my husband is addicted to it. he's a truck driver so when he's in the tv's on. when I was a single parent I didn't have cable. I had a tv & vcr but no local channels came in so only thing kids could watch was the movies.it was so much easier to monitor what they were watching. now though, since I've remarried & my husband insists on cable then I find even when he's not here I'm watching more tv then I normally would. mainly home & garden tv or the forensic shows but still...

Television has become an integral part of life. I watch news and other information channels, my mom and dad watch some daily soaps and religious channels. It has really become difficult to consider life without Television.

I reckon I could. I don't even watch that much tv. Although if the question was about computers and the internet, then thats a big NO!!!. My life revolves around the net and not tv, so I could live.

If talking about a few days, say for a week, I can stay without TV. But it is an important need for entertainment. Internet cannot do forever. You get bored of everything. So does the internet. TV is such a thing of you can never get bored of, becuase it provides you everything....news, movies, songs, serials, comedy, dance, action, everything. Just change the channel and view your favourite channel.

I think I could live without it. The only time I watch tv is at night time. And only for about 2 hours and thats it. So I would just stay on the net thats all. So I can do it.LOL

I could live without it. I would watch my own movies if I wanted to watch something. All those extra hours wasted watching that innane box of electrons could be put to productive use. There is little interaction with TV...you just watch and absorb until your brain is numbed. I wish I had back the thousands of hours I wasted watching the insanity over many decades. I know it is hard for peole to give up their favorite activity..lol.

I personally could do without t.v. While there are a few shows that I try to watch on a regular basis, I could easily live without them. I've steadfastly refused to install cable or satelite because I don't want to spend more time in front of the t.v. than I already do. Maybe someday I'll be chair-bound or bed-bound and unable to do much else. But until then, I don't want ANY excuse for being in front of the t.v. for longer than I already do. I watch even less t.v. when it is daylight for longer. I like to be outside if I can, even if I am just sitting outside. And I know that is healthier for me than t.v. I don't watch daytime t.v. at all and I might be tempted to if I had cable. But I remember being without t.v. for a month or two when I had kids at home and I really missed the babysitter effect! :-) I'm surprised that it wasn't more of an issue with your children, who are older than mine were. Good for you for raising kids who can entertain themselves! I really fear that t.v. has stolen our children from us.

I seldom watch tv, so I don't think I would miss it at all, but the computer, when that was down and needed a new motherboard, I thought I would lose my mind. LOL There is just so much garbage on tv, and usually 200 channels of nothing to watch anyway. I only have tv to keep my husband busy and out of my hair.

Maybe, for a moment, I can live without a TV provided that I am doing something. Just like now, I am spending most of my time here in mylot. Before, our cable was disconnected for about 3 months and that i was not able to watch tv for that time. And I also miss watching tv. it's good that I am busy studying before so it was kinda ok not to have tv that time.

It is possible to become addicted to tv just like anything else. I don't want to do without it because of the shows I like watching. If I had to do without it I would just substitute the computer.

People can become addicted to anything, even mylot lol :) I have 5 tvs in my house, but I dont watch tv that often only if my bf asks me to come over and watch something with him. I do like to watch a movie now and then, I am a big movie buff. I could definately be without tv more the tv shows though, because I love watching a movie every now and then. I am on my computer a lot more, so then ask about being addicted to computer and you will get a different response. :P

I have lived without television for about two years now, i find it very easy. I think that if you become used to the idea, and make yourself busy in other ways you will get along. We make it a point to keep dvd's and pleanty of other things to keep us busy: games, pc's, consoles, etc.

Hey, i think u r right ya... Its very possible for anyone to get hooked and addicted to tv... I mean why not? There's lotsa nice shows in different parts of the world and besides the computer, its the tv that gets people connected... But i truly salute u, i mean u guys have already live without it for 3 months, if its me, i guess even 3 days will be suffering for me... Besides tv shows, theres so much vcds and dvds to watch... So why not? Anyway, u planned to get the tv working again? ur children are incredible too, as in they didnt make noise about it? i guess if its in my house, such thing wouldnt happpened... because my mum is so hooked and addicted to the tv as well... day in day out, i see her watching tv... so isnt tt addicted? keke...

I could live with out a tv but not with with out my laptop. I got to have some kind of thing that would keep me entertained. If you take away both the tv and my laptop... then im pretty sure within 3 to 4 hours i would me going crazy looking at the four walls in my room. hahaha.

I have to have the tv on at night for me to fall asleep. I am a city girl who now lives in the country and it's really quiet here and I am so used to city noise. If my tv isn't on at night then I can't sleep.
