How to get website traffic

Hi,
I have just made my own free website. I am really new to this sort of thing and I was wanting to know if you can help me to get traffic to my site at no cost. If you could please give me steps on it because I am a beginner on this topic and have no idea what I am doing lol. Thanks

is that a blog? if so, i suggest joining in a lot of blog communities, i.e., mybloglog, technocrati, and the like. also, submit your site to search engines. i have some links in my blog, http://toonatoons-underthesun.blogspot.com which you may find useful.

Hi! You could join different traffic exchange sites where you could promote your site and get more visitors for your website. I know some traffic sites which you could join for free. Join them and start surfing to their site to get credits. When you have credits you will use that to assign to your website. That's the way to have traffic to your site.
