I have been thinking in investing a little bit of money for playing online poker. I am a pretty good texas hold 'em player. I was thinking I would take some money and play in some online casinos. Ya know, see if I could win some money! Has anyone ever won any money? How did that feel? Did you actually recieve your money? Or Did you loose it back? Just wondering!

Much depends on the particular site, since they vary widely in quality. I play most often on Party Poker and have never had a problem receiving money from them. They direct deposit into my bank account. Fair warning, everyone who comes on there thinks they are a pretty good texas hold-em player. The majority are not. Whatever site you pick, stick to the beginner tables as long as you can. If you cannot make a fair pile off those tables, you need more practice or study. Practice at free money tables is not that effective since most of the kids go all in every hand. The basics I have learned to so far. Don't chase flushes. Play about 30% of the hands, or in other words, patience, patience, patience. Pay attention to how other players play, even online they have tells. If you get angry, leave the table, angry poker will usually cost you. Be ready to lose to the bonehead newbie who calls into a pot with a 2-7 offsuit and catches a full house, it happens.

It depends on the type of game you are in. If you are the regular tables you can leave any time you wish. If you are in a tournament, you can leave but the system keeps you at the table and will automatically fold until your chips are gone. Most of the big rooms also have freerolls. these are tournaments that cost nothing to enter and have a cash payout. Nothing big, usually 50.00 for first descending to around 25 cents for 200th (they can have anywhwere from 1500 to 8000 entrants). Good place to practice for bigger tourneys though.
