Do you feel like your pets are just pets or part of the family?

BJ and Cali - They were listening to their dad sing in the other room.

My husband and I call our dogs our children. We are mom and dad and our parents are grandma and pawpaw. I was just wondering how many other people do that because my parents hate to be called that saying pets shouldn't be that big of a part of the family.. Just curious what everyone else thinks..

We have two dogs, Gypsy and Mojo they are our family. Gypsy has big daddy wrapped around her paw and Mojo is a momma's boy, right under my feet all the time.

I love it when they give kisses but I have to be really careful or they will get their tongues in my mouth. I don't like that!! Gross.. I agree with the soul.. They aren't just things..

No doubt about it pets are a big part of most family's. My son and his kids and wife have two cats and they are called daughters and my son and his wife are referred to as mom and dad for the cats. Pets play such a big part in a family how can one not think of them as part of it. They listen to your woes and your joys. They get told about boyfriends and girlfriends and they seem to know when you are sick. They will come over and try to make you feel better. I lost my cat a year ago and have not gotten another pet yet. But as I was growing up and having gotten married we always had pets and they were part of our family for sure.

So does that make you grandma? haha.. I'm just kidding. I know that drives my mom insane when I call her grandma to my dogs. I'm sorry for your loss.. I hope you are able to get another one. They are such joys..

i treat our pets as pets..i don't really like animals that much and i don't care about them...maybe because i am too lazy to feed them and clean after them...but i respect people who love their pets and treat their pets as part of their family....there is nothing wrong about it..

My husband and I are total animal lovers so I think that has a lot of bearing on how we treat our pets. Sometimes I do feel a little guilty though because they only go outside to use the bathroom. I feel guilty because they should be allowed to run and play free in the wild. But they seem to enjoy the indoors just as much as the outdoors so I guess they don't mind too much..

We do the same here, they are apart of the family just the same as the kids. We dont acually call our parent grandma and stuff like that though. I dont see anything wrong with it just shows how much you love your pets. and they are very cute i might add. We acually just got another addition to the family today my hubby got a 1 year old blue tic coondog. He is very big and looks and aks more like a lazy hound dog but he already is sleeping at mommys feet as she is doing Mylot, hahahahehehlol

Speaking of new additions.. I thought this would be funny to tell.. when we got our newest puppy we called every one in the family and said "We have a new addition to the family".. some people thought that we were announcing that we were pregnant.. It was kind of funny because we weren't.. It was funny though.. I've never seen a hound dog except for on fox and the hound.. but I can only imagine( can you believe that?). I'm sure he is too cute..

Our dogs are our daughters and granddaughters. My MIL didn't seem to like that at first, but she got used to it. They are both laying here beside me right now. I have a grown son, and I think these girls took the place of him in the house. So they are our family.
