When my kids were little they were certain that only special elves at Christmas time and Fairies could make these special suckers. LOL They loved them and any place we would go and find them they would HAVE to get one. Of course they always thought that the places that had them were special and bought them from special fairies or the elves and Mrs. Claus! Originally they would only eat the clear ones because that's the REAL crystals. As they progressed they worked up to colored versions and eventually all had their own special colors they preferred. These are so beautiful and so simple, yet seem to brighten any child's eyes!

I have had the candy that is shown on the picture, but I always thought that those were call Rock Candy. I think that those are the ones that they sell on Amazon.com and Candy Crate.com. My best friend's favorite candy is Rock Candy. For me, when I eat those, I feel like I am chewing on glass. I also believe that this is the way that they make glass in the movies. I think it consist of sugar and water and the color ones have dye in them, but I could be wrong.

I think you're right, it is how they make glass for special effects. And yes, it is also called rock candy. It depends on where you see it I guess. It's more "magical" when it's crystal candy! LOL

You are right Crystal Candy does sound more interesting than Rock Candy. I just tasted it for the first time a year ago and it was pretty good.
