I personally am attending college to create video games and it is so very exciting to me. I wanted to get a feel for what kind of programmers have found themselves at this website. What do you program in? What got you into programming? Are you casual about it or is it your day job? Obviously I am currently a student, just a year under my belt. I did a bit of Java back in high school and have learned C and C++ in college. I actually checked out programming because of the college I wanted to go to. An article on creating the college in Electronic gaming monthly inspired me to check out whether or not the field would be for me, so I took those programming courses. I frankly fell in love with it. It came naturally and made sense. I've always felt like it is a pride and joy to make things that are just like those programs I use everyday. It also had an extra appeal for career opportunities considering that my job would never be boring; I'd be solving problems and be forced to constantly stay up to date with everything going on. So how about you?

I wanted to do game design. I designed a game called Rax the Shark when I was only 13. Unfortunately, I deleted it on accident so the only remnants I have of the game are the screen shots. I however, still want to learn programming, so I signed up for java programming as a class next year when I'll be a senior. This will actually be the first time I actually learn real programming and can't wait. I however, want to go into sound engineering too because I like music.

Are you still considering pursuing Game design at this point? (I have an overwhelming urge to tells you all sorts of stuff about game development and my school if you say Yes because I love my school to pieces.)
