Series Tied...Will the Wings continue their Game 5 Streak?

In spite of only winning 1 of 2 in Anaheim, the Wings accomplished the most realistic expectation...winning 1 of the 2 games on the road. I know that it was disappointing to lose Game 4 after playing pretty well through most of it and coming back from being down 3-1, but the series is tied and Detroit has regained the home ice advantage. Game 5s have been luck for the Wings this post season. The game 5s vs Calgary and San Jose were a combined 9-2 victory that lead to a series victory in 6 games. This game is a need to win for the Wings. It will put the players and the fans at ease. Congratulations to the Ottawa Senators who have advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time in franchise history. Should the Wings make it to the finals, they will have home ice advantage as Buffalo was the only team that had a better record. Buffalo and Detroit both had 113 points, but Buffalo held the tie breaker to win the President's Trophy.

It is rare for The Presidents's cup winner to win The Cup.Ottawa vs. either The Red Wings or The Sens will be a great series.I hope it is The Red Wings. But if The Ducks advance, I will be rooting for Ottawa.

I feel the same way...if it's not the Wings, I want a team from Canada to win the Cup. It's been a long time since a team from Canada won the cup. Besides...could you imaging "Stanley Cup Winners Anaheim Ducks" in a headline. I think that the President's Cup is cursed. It takes a special team to win the President's Cup and the Stanley Cup.

Ottawa is the team of destiny. Daniel Alfredsson, Dany Heatley, and Jason Spezza are unstoppable.

One thing is for sure, the Sabres/Senators series was great to watch. Even today's game was filled with memorable moments. The only thing that could have been more picture perfect would have been the player who took the puck to the chin to have scored the OT winner. The goal that tied up the game was pretty incredible. First shot off the goal post, then a second whack to the back of the net. I certainly hope the Wings can pull it together and play as they're capable. The Ducks have been (in my opinion) lucky to get this far. Game 1 was all Wings, Game 2 was an unlucky break that SHOULD have been Wings (no thanks to the non-call for pushing the goalie into the net). Game 3 was again all Wings, and Game 4 was really the first I've seen any life (other than the Game 2 OT) from the Ducks.
