I was in Sharm el Sheikh about two years ago...a month before all the bombings! It was a nice place, I guess, but very touristy. It is very pricey. There is only one place where you can find cheap eats and it's a falafel house but it's very good. The "four star" hotel we stayed in was more like a motel 6 without working toilets. The people there hate tourists even though everyone there is except for the people who run the shops and they'll tell you straight up about why they hate tourists or whatever. One thing I would reccomend though is going up to the mountains and having a meal, tea and shisha with the people living up there. I forgot what they are called! Aggh! But you get to ride a camel and then see how they live their life, it's pretty cool. You can also go parasailing, which is fun. It's a pretty place for a short visit, but I wouldn't stay longer than a few days.
