What is the best way to get rid of spiders?

Lately i have been killing alot of spiders in my house. We live next to some woods and a small creek. I have a daughter with medical problems and the site of them all just freak me out!
Any ideas? Have you ever had this problem? Home remedies to fix this?

I hate spiders and have devoted an entire web page of my site to dealing with them...
One tip I use most is:
"Put oil of pennyroyal on a cotton ball or scrap of cloth and place where you see spiders. (Use this with caution it is said that pennyroyal can be harmful to humans and pets. Personally I've never had a problem with it and actually love the smell.)"
