We have gotten so far away from doing things as a family that I have instated a few new rules this week. One of those is that we eat dinner at the dining room table every sunday night as a family no matter what with no tv or anything else going. We had gotten to the point where we all went ou seperate ways at dinner time and we never used the gorgeaus dining room table we have except on holidays. So now we set the table complete with table cloth, place mats, napkins and plates and silverware. We sit down and eat as a family. I hope that I can get us to the point of eating every dinner this way but we will start with sunday. Does your family sit down together and eat their meals? Do you set the table?

I completely understand about not eating together as a family anymore. We eat as a family once a week, as its the only time we are all together. My children are grown and the youngest is a college student. Its hard to get together when we all are busy; however, my oldest child doesn't live close enough to come home. She is in the military.

It is just me, my mom, and my daughter but I tend to go off to the office, mom sometimes in the office, my daughter to one living room and sometimes mom to the other. Or mom and I will be in one living room and my daughter in her room. So I am trying to break us out of that.

My family sits down together for most dinners- Of course with sports schedules- it is hard to do. When there isn't a practice or game we eat together. At the table with only music in the background. This is when we chit chat about things that are happening and how our days have been going- My daughter (10)- loves to chat about her friends and what she did in school. lol-- I think this is the best time of the day- We don't get the tablecloth out- or set a full table. just what we need- We set the full table including flowers on Sundays also.- there is more time to do so.

We always sat and ate dinner together. My oldest got mad because I insisted and she wanted to be out doing things with her friends. It didn't matter how mad anyone got we ate dinner together. The only times we didn't do this was if there was a rare event going on outside the home. It is sad if you are all in the same house at the same time and cannot even sit down together at the dinner table together. When are you suppose to connect with one another? Unfortunately most people don't sit down and eat their meals together. We are becoming strangers in our own homes.
