I am not sure if it is in every state or not but we have it in Indiana where we are made to where our seatbelt or we get a ticket. Now I am wondering what are peoples views on this? I go back and forth with it. I do believe the chances of death are higher by not wearing your seatbelt and I do believe that children up to the age of 18 should have to wear their seatbelt but I am not sure how I feel about adults having to do it. Sometimes we may forget or take it off to grab something and boom, we are pulled over and given a ticket...I will have to think on this more...any thoughts?

I understand what you're saying but if it was someone you love and they got distracted and forgot to put their belt on wouldn't you want them stopped instead of possibly getting in a terrible accident and worse happening? I know that sometimes people die with a seat belt, but many more are saved and few who die with the belt on would have been safe with it off. I was saved by a seat belt, I could have been seriously injured and was able to walk away sore and burned by the air bag, but I wasn't hurled through the windsheild. I'm in Fl and the part that upsets me is you have to wear a seat belt but if you ride a motor cycle you don't have to wear a helmet and you still see people riding in the back of pick up trucks or outting a dog in the back of one. The other thing is if you are an adult they can't stop you for just not having your seat-belt on there has to be some type of violation to stop you and then you get an additional ticket for not having it on. They can stop you though if the child is I beleive under 5 and looks like they're not belted in.

I feel absolutely naked without a seatbelt on! Having worked in an emergency room and an intensive care unit for years, I saw enough to make me want to wear a seatbelt if I am only backing the car up in my own driveway! Ha! Seriously, I have seen more ribs broken by the steering wheel, more faces scared for life by the steering wheel and so forth that I won't ride in a car without a seatbelt.
