Help me out with this stuff

Hello all. I'm retired with plenty of time on my hands so I've spent the last 10 days or so looking around the internet for ways to make a few extra bucks. I signed up with a few dozen "paid to read email" sites and soon noticed that a lot of them only pay in points or one-tenth of a cent, so I cancelled all of those. I don't understand the points and I'd rather see real money adding up. It looks like the only way to make more than a couple bucks a day is to get referrals and I have no idea how you go about doing that - my friends certainly wouldn't be interested.
