I am going to be staying at my parents house for the summer. From like June 15th, til right before school starts. Anyways, I will be home like once a month and was wondering if I put my mail on hold will I be able to pick it up at the post office once a month, or can I only pick it up at the end after I am home? I don't want picking it up to affect the hold and have them start redelivering it.

You can pick it up from time to time without them starting it over. To be safe, remind them when you do pick it up that you want them to continue holding it.

Fill out the paper they have there. DO NOT do it online, I did it before because I thought it would be easier and I even called them to confirm, and they messed it ALL up! So, fill out the paper form at your post office, put the final date for whenever school starts, I think they can only hold the mail for a few months so you may want to check. You may have to keep filling those cards out (I mean: you pick your mail up and then fill out another card). Just make sure they are actually holding it because it is terrible when they aren't like what happened in our case! :( Pablo

I would think you can pick it up as often as you want- Just be sure to tell them that you aren’t back yet – and to keep it on hold until the release date. You probably could have had it forwarded to your parents place. I’m glad to hear that you are going there for the summer- With your hubby being gone soon and pregnant- How fun it will be for the kids to spend time with their grandparents-

Yes, you can pick it up whenever you would like, and not have to change the date. We did this a lot when we traveled the country in our camper. Another thing you can do is have your mail all forwarded to your mother's house. We did that when we were going to be out west for 2 months.

A little over a year ago some friends of mine moved. Unfortunately getting all the paperwork and money together to move into there new house took about three months longer than expected so they had to live with her parents during that time. They had the post office hold their mail and they were able to pick it up whenever they wanted during those 3 months. They said sometimes they happened to drive through every day to get other time a week of two would go by. As far as I know nothing ever got messed up. I on the other hand have never had much luck with the post office getting things right. My landlady lives in Georgia for most of the year but vacations here. But she doesn't have a separate mail box here so she uses my address since her vacation apartment is in the basement of my house. So she'll have her mail forwarded to my address and the tell the p.o. to hold it there. They usually end up holding MY mail to and I don't get it until she separates it from hers and has them deliver it. Then when it's time for her to go back home she always has to leave directions for the p.o. to forward her stuff back to Georgia since she never manages to set the dates right and will have mail still coming here after she's left. But again the p.o. will mess this up and send MY mail to Georgia! It gets pretty frustrating here in the summer! Sorry for the rant LOL but yes you should be able to pick your mail up whenever you want without affecting your hold order.
