Do you shed?

Do you 'shed' hair (lose strands of hair) right before you need a haircut? I was telling a friend recently that when I start shedding badly, I know that's an indication that I need a haircut, and she didn't agree. She said it means I have a deficiency of some sort, but the thing is, I go in, get a trim and then my hair is back to normal, just shedding a little bit everyone once in awhile instead of shedding 3-6 strands everytime I brush or shampoo my hair. I have really thick hair so I don't notice any thinning, but I almost wonder who else uses bad shedding as a guage that they need a haircut?

OMG~! We have that in common~! I know it's time to get a haircut when I start to 'shed' too~! I never knew how that worked.. But for my hair, it starts to 'shed' when it gets too long~! So then I'll know it's time to cut my hair! I thought it was just me.. Seems like there are others who are just like me! ;)

I don't think i shed any more or less hair when it's time for me to have a hair cut. I do seem to shed a fair bit, and i often wonder how my hair replaces the amoun thtat's shed, since it never seems to get thinner, yet i'm sure i shed more than i could possibly grow back!
