I just joined your group today and decided to show you some of my artwork. This piece is a colored pencil sketch on black artists paper that I did for a Christmas gift last year. I have only been doing colored pencil sketching for a short time before I did this picture so I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. It is a still life picture of some flowers from my garden placed on my wood stove. The title comes from the fact the warmth is from the feeling you get from viewing the beautiful flowers rather from the wood stove.

You should definitely be pleased with that picture. It's beautiful. I envy your talents. I am horrible at drawing and the like. I really admire people who have artistic talents!

thank you Patty, I came by my artistic talent from my late father and as I found out later, from my late mother as well, she started painting when she was in her early 70's and we found out she was quite talented.

I think it's great that you are pursuing your art! I am into art myself, but I have not done anything for quite awhile. You can always make money selling your work. It would make a good source of income.

the only thing I have ever sold were my painted rocks, I really find it hard to figure out what price to charge for things and when and if I ever wanted to paint for a living I don't think that I would enjoy it as much because it would be like a job. I enjoy painting or sketching just for the joy of it. Also the small province I come from doesn't have the resident base to support making much of a profit.

Garden - Beautiful garden beside the Warwick Castle.
That's a beautiful artwork, thekatser. I wish I could do the same. My daughter is quite good at pencil sketching but she has not developed the talent, though she still does it during her free time. I have a sister who has started lessons on painting and she loves painting flowers so I am saving for her pictures I took during my holidays in Scotland. Do continue with the art that you enjoy!

Thank you so much. I hope you encourage your family to keep up with their art work because it's very good for the soul. That is a wonderful picture of you sitting among the flowers.

Beautiful painting. Keep at it as it is a great source of satisfaction in your life. I paint and do digital art which helps me tremendously as a form of therapy. See my art work at: http://natyrosado.com

thank you naty, I do really enjoy working with all kinds of mediums whether it be acrylic paint, oils or as in this case, colored pencils. I seem to take spurts at it, sometimes doing lots of projects and then at other times not touching it for a while. I'm in the not touching it for a while stage unfortunately but once the nice weather comes and the days are longer I'll feel more like getting things done.

Good picture. Why you choose flower & teapot? It is better if you choose flower only as central of your painting for this painting. Coloration ok

Good question Robert. The main reason I put the teapot (or in this case left the teapot because it was on the stove when I took the photograph that I used to draw the picture) was because it added a bit of color and interest off to the side. I think that if I had just the flowers it would be a bit ordinary.
