why do people lie while chatting on the net

This has been really a problem to really identify wheather the person you are chtting is lying or honest. It has been seen mostly not only with teenagers who want to be with girls and even some guys enter the rooms of lesbians and act as females. Is it the mentality or the wrong psychological approach of these people. The main problem i think is that these people who do these kind of things haven't fulfilled something in that part of their life and even the psychological imbalance and some even may be doing just for fun.
