Yesterday our family lost a loved one. She was my aunty. She was a great person whom everyone gave respect to. She was somebody that we all could talk to and she would listen and also give us advice that could help us. She will be missed by everyone in our family and our friends that got to know her and shared our love for her. The funny thing, yesterday when we got the call I felt sad and happy at the same time. I felt sad because...well everything I explained above. I felt happy because I knew that she wasn't suffering anymore and that she was up in heaven with Jesus. Do you think it's was wrong for me to feel happy about losing her? Share with me your opinions and your experiences.

I am so sorry for your loss. No I do not think if was wrong for you to feel this way. I have went through this when my grandma passed away. I was glad she wasn't suffering, but I was selfish and I wanted her to live because I loved her. But she is better that she isn't suffering. I miss her terribly to this day and it has been 17 years. Praying for you and your family. (hugs)

First, I'd like to say I'm sorry for your loss. I don't think it was wrong at all. I lost my mother 3 months ago, while we were very sad, we too were glad that her suffering was over. When we held her memorial service, we cried and laughed, my daughter wrote a beautiful Eulogy and it had a lot of happy memories in it. After the ceremony we went to a reception and we all talked about funny things that mom did or said. I know that's the way she wants it to be, I'm sure you're aunty would too.

My condolences go out to you and your family for losing your loved one. I'm terribly sorry to hear. To answer your question, I don't think that it's wrong to feel happy, because as you said, she's no longer here on this Earth with the pain, misery, stress, and everything else that we face from day to day. Lastly, welcome to myLot. Take care. God bless you and your family.

I am really sorry to hear about the loss of your loved one. It is somthing that is never easy, and no matter how far in advance that we know that it is comming, it always seems to be a shock. Take some comfort in knowing that she is not in any pain, and is resting peacefully with all of those who left this earth before. You will be with her again.

Well if you were just happy she has passed away, then yeah I'd feel that was wrong. But feeling happy that she has passed away because she is no longer suffering is quite normal. Watching people suffer and struggle to hold on is horrible. She is now in heaven and free from any type of pain. =) I am sorry for your loss but it is good to know she is no longer suffering or in pain.
