Hi my name is sandy and I'd like to thank the doctors in Philadelphia at the Thomas Jefferson Hospital as they diagnosed me with Diffuse Scleroderma in 2003. I'm from Ireland and the Irish doctors couldn't or wouldn't diagnose the problem!!!! When one Irish consultant heard that I had Scleroderma he told me I would end up in a wheelchair and wouldn't be around in 2004!! as you can see i've proved him wrong!! thank goodness!! The consultant in America was brilliant and still is brilliant, I have to travel once a year now adn now there's only a20 per cent chance of it coming back. Scleroderma is a auto immune disease it can affect the internal organs, it has slightly damaged ,y heart but nothing to worry about just yet!! at least i now know i'm able to see my 3 lovely daughters grow up to be nice young women. they are now nearly 18, (twins of 18, well in 2 wks time they'll be 18) and my soon to be 21 year old daughter. So thanks to a lovely consultant in Jefferson I'm still around. my consultants name is Dr Sergio Jimenez, the nicest man anyone could ever meet. and to his staff. so thanks again. so if there is anyone out there who has Scleroderma try and get it treated I was on penicillimine. the only tablets i'm on now is nexium to help me swallow. so if you need to talk about this i'm here to help. sandy
