Yes, I've done it before, on Ghost Day where you remain silent for the entire day to honor HIV/AIDS victims. I forgot what day it is exactly; sometime in June, I think.

I have done it before. It is easier for me if I am mad at someone though. :) I got mad at a co-worker one time (he was also a friend) and I told him that I never wanted to talk to him again. I didn't say one word to him for 9 months. I wouldn't even take his calls at work. I would see his name on the caller id and I would let the call rollover. He would sit next to me in meetings and try to make small talk and I would just ignore him. He would come up to me at lunch and I would look right at him and not say a word. After 9 months of this, he broke down and begged me to talk to him. To just tell him off, curse him out, anything, just talk to him. I did. It has been 10 years since then and we are still friends.
But not talking is easy. Especially if you are alone or in a place where you know people will not bother you.

True, it is easy said than done. But now by knowing it will increase my will power, I will try harder to keep my mouth shut. As my work is with computer. If during weekends, I am on duty on my own. I will only do my typing and replying without saying any words. If neccessary, I will zip my lip with the sello tape (sticky tape)! Hehehe...

Sorry to say NO I think its highly impossible for me to keep quite as i am of talkative nature. my friends, family members sometimes find me talking with self . i have a habit of self talking i put a question to me and then answer the same myself. i have improved my spocken english very much by this menthod. It can only possible if someone put tape on my mouth so that i can't utter words but still them I may be talking with self seilently in my mind.

Thanks for your respose ,that Is exactly what I am saying ,for those persons whom talk a lot cannot keep queit for long and if one will try surely it is going to increase his wil power ,goes he is controlling his mind ,infact it is a spiritual practice to keep queit or mouna vratha .all the spiritual people like Gandhi used to take mouna vratha.i think god has something to do with silence .i read some where that budha and those person who are enlightened went it that stage of silence.

Thanks for u r comment .I mean if u are a frequently talking person try to keep quiet will surely is going to increase u r will power .if u r internet means u dont have any body to talk.try not to tald when u are among u r friends for in family.will power increases if u delibrately restrain u r mind from doing the activities u like not activities it is like controliing the senses.try to eat something which u dont like though it is healthy,or if u have any bad habbits try not to do it this will increase u r will power
