gone were the days that one had to travel from the country to singapore or HK and pay expensive fare! its now the days of the LCCs or low cost carriers... these LCCs include tiger airways, air asia and jetstar.. ive tried tiger airways and jetstar already and i can tell you that one can really save a lot with them.. one can now go to singapore, hk, macau, and some other southeast asian countries and pay less. there are some pros and cons though.. air asia and tiger airways's flight (with airbus 320) departs clark which is 2 hrs bus trip from manila, while jetstar depart NAIA.. and the fees and tax are not included in the airfare.. also they dont serve food, one must buy them in the aircraft.. and its not that comfortable to first time travellers, although i must say that i am already quite used to it. but if you really want to save money in airfare and just spend the money to shopping, try them! tip: book in advance to save more and check out their promos

It is wonderful that low cost carriers can be found in Asia. We have them in Europe and they make travelling very cheap. The routes are all short haul. So the airlines really pack the seats in to each plane. This means very little leg room. They want to cut costs so they commonly charge for meals, drinks and headphones. I would like to know cheap routes to and from Manila. Is there a low cost carrier doing the Hong Kong to Manila route?

have read online about europe's low cost carriers.. ryanair is one of them right? one of the problems with these lcc are the packed seats.. if one is really tall, sorry for them since you wont be comfortable seating or even sleeping! im only aware of one low cost carrier that has manila-hong kong/hong kong-manila route and that is cebu pacific.. i also read somewhere that a HKairlines offers low fare, but the site does not list manila as a destination city, so i suggest calling the customer service.. try checking cebu pacific site for some promos.. you can also try tiger airways but itll be macau-clark.. you can take a ferry to macau. then when you are in clark you can take a bus to manila (1-2 hrs bus ride). hope this can help..

Yes, the biggest low cost carriers we have in Europe are Easy Jet and Ryan Air. More and more routes are being added all the time. Then there are other airlines like Zoom that flies from the UK to Canada. I have heard of a new low cost airline that flies from the UK to Hong Kong with very cheap fares. I am 5ft 7ins tall so I feel fine in the cramped seats with little leg room. The emergency exits don't have much more room! Very tall people can feel really miserable as they don't fir into the seats at all well given their long legs. Many thanks for the helpful info.

am glad to help.. i might not get comfortable with those long flights.. i still prefer well-known airlines when its a long-haul flight, with comfortable seats, warm blankets and free meals! the airline that flies from the UK to Hong Kong is the oasis hong kong airlines. i might try it when going to the UK since it also serve in-flight meals!

yeah, you're right! Now in my country there is Air Asia. I can fly to Penang with just the cost of MYR9.90 at times! Sometimes I think the airlines cost is cheaper than taking a bus. Taking a car is even more expensive because we have to pay for the petrol and tolls. This is absolutely a problem solver to many of us who don't have the money to travel abroad. I hope Air Asia will always stay and also all other cheap airways in the world.

there are now lots of airlines that offer the "lowest fare".. in the philippines we, including myself, always wait for the P1 fare of one of our local airlines.. its not actually P1 coz in reality itll be thousand bucks because of the taxes etc., but itll be cheap and the fastest way to reach your destination esp that we are an archipelago.. so more low fares!!!
