As a recruiter in a firn, I cone across lots of resunes nentioning about their social experience & during interview also I have seen people nake lot of noises about helping the poor i.e one should do this ..do that for social welfare of poor and needy ... But often these sane people nove away fro responsibiltiy or when . Only when they think they can get any personal benefit, they try and cone fowrward.. Do you think its right to allow people to use such statenents of attatching thenselves with any social cause..OR is it right in the sense that because of this there are a decent lot who atleast nake efforts towards social causes..???Ps. one of the letter key is not working .Kindly pardon for that

I think it's awful for people to claim to help with social causes if they do NOT really do anything. On the other hand it is very good to reward those who do actually get involved on a regular basis by giving them some sort of "priority-treatment" vs other candidates with similar qualifications and work experience, because it is a good thing to do and even though they shouldn't expect a reward, the recruiter can use this as a yardstick to evaluate potential employees thereby rewarding those who are involved in such activities. So, I guess it would be up to you as a recruiter to try and get to the truth of the matter, to figure out if they are just "padding" their resume or if they are/were actually actively involved in volunteer activities. When you talk about "making efforts" I don't see how it can be different from actually doing something...if someone says they "make an effort" and yet don't really get anything done, then it seems to me they have not *really* made the effort, because there are so many ways and opportunities to volunteer for social causes that "making an effort" should always result in being able to contribute their time and energy to a particular cause. P.S. Don't worry about the key...I have the same problem with my z key at my home computer! It's very annoying sometimes!
