This is one of my Persians - White Persian cat
I have seven cats, 4 of them are Himalayans ans 3 are Persians. Do not get me wrong I love each one of them but if I was to to do it all again I would have only Persians. Persian cats have a really mellow temperament, they do not scratch a lot and they do not jump on a lot of places. They are almost clumsy cats so I do not think they can jump really high. Their bodies are built different kind of like a bull dog. They are also the most affectionate of my cats. The only real problem with them is the eye drainage because of of the extremely flat faces and I find they are very skidish.

In all the years I've had cats, I've found that as long as you either adopt a grown cat that has been a housecat or get a kitten, you should do fine. As long as it is not one of the 'exotics' I don't worry about the kind. Our kitties now were all stray kittens. They do like grass every now and then, though.

I believe that if you truely want an indoor cat they have to be raised indoors. The best thing would to get a kitten and raise it as an indoor cat. If you want it to be indoors all the time a short haired cat would prob. be the best because cats do shed and their hair gets on everything.

Well my family has had Siamese cats for a long time, so I guess I'm kind of inclined to say they are the best. They can be really weird though, and some people say that have more personality than other cats (though they also may be more snobby than other cats). If you don't have a lot of money to spend on a purebred cat though, why not adopt a cute kitten from the shelter? I always want to do that, but my dad says three cats is enough...

I don't think there is any right or wrong type of cat. It really depends on the personality of the cat itself. Some cats are more at home indoors others are more at home outside. If a cat has never been outside they are usually happy being an indoor cat. However, if they have been outside they might have trouble totally adapting to being an indoor cat. I had a persian cat that was adopted from the humane society and he had been a n indoor/outdoor cat. Now this old guy had a way of getting even if you didn't let him out. He would pee either in the bed or on clothing. So I let him go out. LOL

My current cat is a Burmese. She loves to stay home, doesn't go out for more than l hour a day. is content to lay on the bed all day. Makes the house feel cozy. Oh, when visitors come she growls and bares all her teeth as she is protective. She has never had an accident inside and that is the mark of a good liveable cat. The fur does get on all your clothing. I wouldn't swap her for anything!

I always wanted an indoor cat and but I got adopted by a stray cat but he likes to be outside most of the time except when it is cold, I am not sure if having an indoor cat depends on a special breed or if it depends on how you train a cat, it will be very interesting to see what people here say.
