In India we have few religions like the one followed by Jains which follow strict vegetarian diet! By virtue of one's birth in these religions one becomes vegetarian ! Yes in Hindu religion also by getting born in 'Brahmana 'caste one becomes a vegetarian! I wonder, if there is any other country in this World, where such practice is being in practice? Are you vegetarian by virtue of your birth in a particular caste or religion? Please respond! Thanks!

I don't follow Christianity which is the religion of our country, but in the old testament God said that Adam and Eve should just eat fruits. However in the new testament Jesus gave people fish to eat and it was perfectly acceptable to eat most meats. These days people just seem to pick the bits of religion that they like and ignore the rest so most Christians are meat eaters. I am a vegan and to me that is stricter than a religion and for a better reason as I am saving the lives and stopping the suffering of lots of animals.

Jesus said "THOU SHALT NOT KILL" and that certainly means that a true christain is not suppoesed to eat meat. I am a follower of Vedic Religion or u might call it Hare Krishna. We respect all living entities and their right to live as much as we have the right to live. The Isopanishad says isvasyam idam sarvam yat kincha jagatyam jagat tena tyaktena bhunjita ma grdha kasya svid dhanam Everything or inanimate that is within the universe is controlled and owned by the Lord. One should therefore accept only those things necassary for himself, which are set aside as his quota, and one should not accept the other things, knowing well to whom they belong. so as obvious we can easily survive with vgetarian food, so y incroach on other things that are not meant for us.

caste system ! I am a gaudiya vaishnav ( hare krishna ) and am an initiated brahman , i was born in a kshatriya family by birth and the hare krishnas since the past 500 hundreds years have been following this . we do not belive that caste is determined by birth. Lord Krishna in the Bhagvad Gita says that caste is determined by one's WORK AND QUALITY . and yes according to the scriptures all hindus are supposed to vegetarians !

Indeed, I was Hindu in my last life. Why I became a Christian on another continent is beyond me! Indeed at the age of 18, I became a vegetarian, no meat, eggs or dairy products, however not vegan.(I didn't toss out my leather shoes, you know!) If someone is Hindu, and they are touched by this, could you please contact me? I need help. thanks.
