Dopamine Supplements

Hey all I've decided that serotonin has nothing to do with my depression, and norepinephrine seems to do little good as well, so now I'm looking into dopamine. Unfortunately, I don't like my chances of getting anything from a doctor for increasing dopamine levels (unless I start tinkering with all their stuff and telling them I have ADHD, and they give me Ritalin to stop me from demolishing their computer!). So I'm looking into natural supplements. I've started taking Tyrosine (about 1g/day) and it seems to be working better than two separate courses of antidepressants. But I am wondering, is there anything else I can take? Also, would it be worth it to take DL-Phenylalanine along with Tyrosine? I'm also getting some 5-HTP imported at the moment, I've heard they can increase each other's effects. Anyone tried this kind of thing? 'Shady

I have been considering St John's Wort as well, as a kind of add-on to the Tyrosine supplements. I once took it by itself though, and no luck, however besides having an effect on the reuptake of serotonin, it also has weak monoamine oxidase inhibiting effects, which could help the tyrosine and 5-HTP as well. Still, I'll be trying 5-HTP and Tyrosine first together, but if anyone knows, is it worth taking Tyrosine and DL-Phenylalanine at the same time? 'Shady

I'd really suggest you to search the origin of your depression.when did it happen?when did you have such feeling?Did anything, anyone give you a big shock before you felt depressed?Did you suffer from other disease before? You know, things like dopamine, tyrosine and 5-HT can be produced by your body.Dopamine can keep a balance of motor function of the body. Some Parkinson's patients have tremor. It is just because they have a low level of dopamine. Some medicine like levodopa is used to treat parkinson's disease.I think your condition isn't like that. Are you sure you have a low level of your body? Many depression's patients have a shortage of 5-HP and NA.Do you have a check on your body and make sure you are lack ot 5-HT?Besides,If you keep taking these medincines your body will have a rely on them and donnot produce them normally.Third, many of those medincines have side effects you don't know. I suggest you express your own feeling to a psychoanalysis(doctor)who can give you certain spiritual comfort.Try to open your heart to others.Go out and meet as many friends as you can.Share your attitudes with them. Finally, have a positive thinking in your mind.please trust the doctors.Hope you will soon recover and feel happy again!!

"This post contains content of a mature nature.......If you would like to view this post, you must first change your preferences to allow mature content."I don't know how to do with it.I can't see the content here but I have seen it in my e-mail. I am also a medical learning student.Do you know some nerve system diseases can be treated by spiritual comfort. Some patiences don't take any medicine but just do as the psychoanalysis tell them. They follow the psychoanalysis' suggestions.I don't know what a psychoanalysis do in your country. In my country they don't just give patiences medicine. They also help patiences lead their lives with positive attitude and find a modest direction in their lives. You know human gain messages by hearing and listening. What you read, hear, see will have some good or bad effects on your thinkings.Bad effects stimulate on the nerve .Gradually the nerves can't work normally. So many of the nerve system diseases are not attacked by bacteria, virus, mycoplasma and so on.It is something about the patiences themselves. Maybe in your mind there are certain negative attitudes which make you feel depressed. You should find out the original problem of your condition.Hope you recver soon.

I don't understand why anyone would want to do anything against their doctors wishes. They are there for a rason, they know what they are talking about. Don't start experimenting on your own.
