Help uploading pictures?

I'm trying to upload a picture on my profile, but it keeps saying that it "failed to upload". At first the file was in .bmp, but that didn't work, so i changed it to .png, but that still didn't work. The picture is 540x600, or 5.6inx6.25in. What's wrong with my picture?

It needs to be a .jpg file to work.

have you tried to change into jpg file?
