How do I keep my dog from going crazy around the house?

My dog is good most of the time but from time to time she steals food from the counter when we're home. We try to put things away but is there any way to gently deter her from countersurfing?

The dog doesn't know it is doing something wrong.
I would set a trap.
Maybe a jalapeño sandwich might do the trick. It might sound cruel but you are the one with the dog eating off of your counter. LOL
I have a friend who used tobasco sauce to deter a dog from chewing on the furniture and table legs. It worked.
Personally I have not had to use these methods.
