I was listenning in the radio this morning and according to deped, a new increased on tuition fee to private school was granted by them almost yearly. Its fantastic, everything seems increasing. Last time, due to the increasing dollar exchange the gasoline and other crude product prices are increased. but today, peso exchange they said is strong but still , new increases was made to gasoline prices. Unbelievable!! This time with the enrollment going on, they approved increased in tuition fees on private schools and government school tuition fees are imposed. Do you think, where do we go from here and who are supposed to stop or regulate them?

I am not really so concerned with the tuition fee increase of private schools because mostly they could not really charge an increase of more than 10% I think or is it 5%? I am just not sure. But I remember my sister assuring me before when I enrolled my daughter in Montessori because I was fearful that it might double its tuition fee. For private school to become competitive, they really have to give higher honorariums and fees to their teachers and to tap those really good teachers. I knew of this because I used to work in a private university before and I find their tuition here in Cebu to be just reasonable. However, my big concern really is more on the QUALITY of education in public schools. Most parents, won't even need to send their children to private schools and spend as much if only we have a very good public school education system that produces quality students. Those tuition fee increases won't become such an issue if we have very good public school teachers and public educational system. That is the area that we should exert tremendous effort and clamour to be taken a look into and improved.

the tuition fee alone in one of the private school here in manila just for high school is 130k per year and increasing by 5 to 10% yearly is still big. I like what you said, if we have good public school teachers and public education, which the government should support , but we all know the salary scale in the government is a pity and their benefits are not given sometimes.plus the number of enrollees compare to the number of classroom available are outnumbered. What they do is they double up teaching , the product of course are unattended students. I dont know how they are coping with that.

Increase in tuition fee in government and private schools beyond a reasonable limit is going to hurt most of the students and their parents. It would affect seriously affect the meritorious students most whose parents can not pay much. If the increase is inevitable due to inflation and other compelling factors, the least the authorities can do is to increase the number of scholarships and make them more attractive.

Correct, this increases in tuition fee affects those students with meritorious achievement but their parents cannot afford any longer. Hopefully, they should implement more scholarship to this deserving student. Your comment was good. thank you for your response.

It is a pity really to parents striving to send their children to school, but private school are getting commercial with their tuition fee so high that you dont know how to pay them anymore, while sending them to public is a problem with the large volume of student, it is a wonder how they can give proper education. The government itself should help the institution improve their facilities, increased the number of classrooms, hire more teachers, increased of salaries and offer more scholarships. yah, you said it so, how can we live is really the coming question.
