I believe 2 of the largest, most popular news shows in the Philippines are 24 Oras and TV Patrol. Both shows have great news anchors and both shows rate very well. Which news show do you prefer, Pinoy? Can you tell me why??

Neither. Both sensationalizes, focus more on showbiz, contains little news, filled with petty crimes. Just try watching the headlines of the news at the beginning and you'll see it's all junk. I mean, what do I care about Ruffa? Or about the latest thing about Piolo and Dennis Trillo? And instead of featuring the important news straight and fast, sometimes you have to wait until the end of the show for the *real* news. In between are all the junk they keep to lengthen the program. And what are most news are? Cellphone snatchings, wife abusing, drunkards, and other low-key police crimes. I watch news central. But if forced to choose between the two, I'll have to say TV patrol. BTW, Mike coughs. Yuck.

I do agree with some of your points. But you cannot blame the news shows if they show what for you is 'junk' because that 'junk' is entertainment for many Pinoys. Thanks for this response!

They have programs that specialized in showbiz, which refer to the entertainment parts. From startalk to showbiz central and other shows in between. If GMA would want to call 24 oras as a news-oriented program, they should stick to news. Instead they pester the people wanting to watch real news with showbiz bits. So that's why I would prefer to watch other programs for news.

Oh, and by the way, cellphone snatchings, street holdapings, killings, are never "entertainment." Cheers! :-)

i prefer TV Patrol. TV patrol helps the complaints of some citizensthrough citizen patrol. I just like how the news is delivered in tv patrol. besides I dont like the style of Mike Enriquez in delivering the news, he sounds like a speakerbox or announcer of the radio, he does not sound like is a broadcaster. Also, i have been a kapamilya, all these years.

I prefer 25 Oras. When it comes to news and current affairs GMA 7 is really the best. I mean the news were different and most of the news were really great at the same time most of the news are indeed informative.

I actually TV Partrol 99% of the time. I like their formatting better and I think its more upbeat and less dramatic.

For me, ABSCBN news anchors delivers new better than GMA's. Mel Tianco sounds like a squeeking chicken while Mike enriquez tries so hard but i have to admit that Mike is successful in having a distinctive style. Both networks reports almost the same news so i think i'll judge them through their delivery .

lol agree. i was trying to think of how to describe mel tianco and mike enriquez. i really dont like the wa they deliver the news. the terms used are sleazy like the ones you would read on tabliods like bulgar and tiktik.

I prefer TV Patrol because they are straight-to-the-point and they have patrol from the citizens themselves. Though the reception of our television isn't that clear compared to GMA's 24 Oras, I still watch TV Patrol because of the numerous exlusives they present. 24 Oras has documentary updates and that's what I liked most about the show. The program is very clear and vivid but I still go for TV Patrol - then comes the soap operas we usually watch in Primetime.

In our place, it's really TV Patrol...the reason? There are more soaps on it that are watched by a majority of our people. But in Metro Manila, I guess it's 24 Oras...When conducting surveys, it should cover the entire Philippines, instead of only in Metro Manila to get a clearer picture of the TV network preferences of Pinoys.

I like CNN and the news that I get on my free Globe 7. I guess I like their convenience and thorough coverage.
