How do you prepare for a yard sale? Do you price items ahead of time or do you decide how much to charge once a person asks how much?

I price everything ahead of time. If I go to a yard sale and have to ask, I usually leave it laying. I don't ask.

This is a great way to look at it...from the buyers point of view! Great suggestion.

I try to price ahead of time, but I'm always willing to negotiate the price with the customer.

Yes, I am definitely going to be open to negotiation. Especially towards the end of the sale.

I price items on a list and put what I'm askin for it, then what i'll take at very least. I find that its very easy and effective to put up signs for different price ranges and put those items in they're designated ranges. It helps be organized and less questions arize, if they do arize I fall back to the pre-made list. Its very easy to make an inventory of what you have then list the prices you want, and following the least amount you'll take for said item. Just write everything down as you go through it and before the yard sale right down the prices you've decided on, and what you'll take if someone asks for a lower price.

Thanks so much! I like the idea od keeping an inventory...even if its only to track the items as they are bought.

I try to price everything before the day, if not then I price the rest of the items that morning. I hate for people to be askign me how much for this or that and then trying to jew you down on stuff. I like to try to have it all priced before the big day.
