Has realty TV gone to far?

I just heard that there is a Dutch show called the Big Donor show. It is about a dying woman who is picking to see who will receive her kidney. There are I think three contestants in the running for the kidney and people can text in who they think should get it but ultimately the woman gets the final decision. The show is created by the guy who did Big Brother. The guy said he is doing the show to show awareness to the fact of lack of donor organs. I think that this is just absurd to even do to people. They are dangling this life in front of people and it should not be a show. What are your views?

Is this for real? I think this must be the most disgusting TV-show idea I have ever heard! This is cold blooded exploitation of people. Sometimes people need to be protected from themselves - dying and seriously ill people do not need to be put in situations like this for the rest of the world to see. Really! I could go on and on, but I feel my views are pretty well covered after saying I find this horrific and disgusting.

I just heard this on the news and was appalled by it. I guess the government there is not going to do anything about it either. It is just an awful thing to do to people. So, next week when it airs I hope that not one person watches this show because it is just immoral.

Hey, the show is a hoax as it turns out. Friday, it was made public that the show was made as an attempt to bring to put pressure on the government and to increase awareness into the donor problem. The dying woman was not dying, however, the contestants are real patients waiting for a donation. The patients were also in on the hoax.

What a crazy hoax that was then. I guess it did work because it got people to talk about it and draw attention to the issue. Thanks for filling me in on it because I had not heard about it being a big hoax.

That is pretty sick. It seems unethical to have people competing for an organ donation. How can that woman live with herself? Oh, wait....she doesn't have to live with herself because she is dying. I wouldn't want her diseased kidney anyway. I think that there are more tasteful and moral ways to call attention to the lack of organ donors.

I completely agree with you. I can not believe they found someone to actually go through with such a thing. If she wanted to donate then donate without making it a contest for someones life.

I am not easily offended, but this is probably the most offensive idea for a reality show ever imagined. It is immoral, unethical, and appalling that they would make a game out of three people's lives. Despite this, however, I have to disagree with the people that say that the network shouldn't be allowed to air the show. Although I completely disagree with the show's premise, the network should be allowed to air it as planned. Freedom of speech means that you can't censor something just because you disagree with it, no matter how revolting it may be. Ultimately, the viewers will be the judge. If nobody watches, the show will probably be canceled.

Yes, you do have a point about the whole free speech comment you made. It just is disturbing that anyone would actually do a show like this at all.
