Do you use air conditioning in the summer to cool your house..or fans..? I found that if I darken the windows..the heat is not so intense.. What are ways you cool your house down in the summer?

We use air conditioning and also ceiling fans and at night a fan also. We are in south Texas and it is not only hot but very humid here next to the bay. It is just after 5pm right now and it is 86 degrees but feels like 91 and our humidity is just 59% right now. We use the air conditioner most of the year, it is pretty bad when you have to use it so you don't melt while cooking Thanksgiving meal or baking for Christmas. I want to get away from down here so bad, I was born and raised here and tired of it for sure. hahahahaha

Well why not move..you can move over to our neck of the woods..we do get some hot days..but usually not as hot as Texas..and our cold days don't get as bad as the midwest..and the cost of living is pretty reasonable;)+|

Oh that sounds nice but I'm afraid it's too far away from my kids and grandkids. LOL Thank you for the invitation though.

Well, I wish I had a great idea because it is starting to get warmer now. It is after 1 a.m. and still 66 degrees outside. I like to open the bedroom window to help cool off the bedroom, but we won't be able to do that much longer. We use ceiling fans and other fans, and in the living room, I have one of those room-sized coolers in the window. We have refrigerated air, but was told when we had to repair it, that the unit they installed when they built the house was too small for the sq. footage, so it has to work really hard and doesn't do an efficient job. We keep the thermostat on about 75 once we turn it on, and still don't get too cool and our bill runs about $150 a month for that. Thank goodness it is staying cooler this year longer, so we haven't turned on the air yet.
