I always give away my seat if i see some elderly people standing near my seat. Being young i think i can stand and travel but people who are old find it difficult to stand specially in city buses & trains which are crowded in peak hours. But some youngsters dont have this courtesy to offer their seat even if elderly people ask them for seat.

I do the same thing, because that's one way of showing respect. I don't like men who ignore elderly people. Sitting pretty and all that while the elder is having a hard time. So ungentleman.

Yes I offer my seat to elderly people when I am in the subway or the bus. I admit I wasn't that aware of them when I was younger. But as I grow older and I see that my parents are getting older and older each day, I start to have this passion or sympathy for old people. Wherever I see them, I would think of my parents and I want to do something for them even though I don't really know them. I think letting them have my seats is good and it would be better if people let my parents have their seats when they travel too. What comes around goes around.

when taking the public train, i usually prefer to stand near the door... when i have the chance to have a seat, i would offer it to other people, whether they're older or younger than me...

I always and without fail offer my seat to old people, pregnant women and people with small children with them. It just seems to too rude and inconsiderate not to do so.

Yes i always give.It has been my habit for a long time.Actually youngsters should do it as they can easily stand but older people can't specially in buses & trains.

Yes I always did so when I was young and could stand and travel. Now you really are apalled at how few people are willing to give up their seats. If I am alone I still stand and travel giving seat to women with kids or elderly but I sometimes wish someone would return the same favor to me too when I am traqvelling with my toddler.

I certainly do. Not only to elderly but also to mom with small childrens, as you said....especially on the peak hours. It will be difficult for small children to grip the handle bar.

I always give up my seat for elderly people.I do this because whenever I see elderly people,I am reminded of my own grandparents who are in their 80s now.It pains me to see people who don't care a bit and refuse to give up their seeats for elderly people. If nothing, they should have the common sense that elderly people donot have as much energy as us and consequently need to sit down as they cannot take the strain of standing for long periods.

Yes, I give me seat to the elderly when I'm in public transportation. Not only there, but in other public places too. I also give my seat up for pregnant women.
